With the wealth of options these days, especially in Austin, its hard to make a choice as to who you want to do the entertainment on your wedding day. Choosing your entertainment is one the biggest, and funnest decisions you will make. Do you want a band? Do you want a DJ, or do you want something simple and elegant like a string quartet. It all depends on you and what type of wedding you are having. Just like any other vendor you choose, you’ll probably be doing a lot of web research and relying on recommendations from friends and family. With a lot of our business being based in Austin we get the opportunity to see a lot of the entertainment that Austin has to offer. One of the best and busiest bands is called The Pictures, we did a blog post on them in a previous article, and they are definitely one of the best. Another band we worked with recently that was very good is called Dysfunkshun Junkshun..We will be working with them soon on a new music video and will be doing a profile for their band soon on the website so check back for more info on them.
There are several top wedding DJ’s in the Austin area. DJ’s are usually a little cheaper than hiring a full band and can bring a high level of entertainment to the reception. A quick google search for Austin Wedding DJ will bring up several good choices.
Another idea that we don’t see too often, but is really cool, is hiring a celebrity impersonator to do the entertainment. A couple we filmed in Houston this past weekend flew in an Elton John impersonator from Las Vegas to do a few songs at their reception. The crowd loved it and he put on an amazing performance. This couple actually had a mix of a DJ, a band, and the Elton John impersonator. The mix of a couple of different acts made for a really fun and unique evening that made their wedding stand out.
